Pea seed transplanting

First, we opened Kidblog to write about the best environment for plants to grow.  We were to share our learning of the essential things all plants need to survive.

Then, we blogged about the worst environments that we could think of for a plant to grow.  Check out our blogs to see our ideas.

We looked at our mini greenhouse and talked about condensation that we saw at the top of the greenhouse.  Many of us remembered studying about condensation with the water cycle from first grade.

Next, we headed to the commons to transplant our pea plants from the greenhouse to our individual cups.

After transplanting, we added the steps we completed to our blogs.

We are excited to take care of our new plants and carefully observe the changes that will occur.

Happy 2013....Welcome Back

Happy New Year!  It was a great week back at school.  In addition to our reading instruction, we are working with a program in class that is designed to help children develop their comprehension and vocabulary skills through read aloud stories.    Each week, we read a story and focus on six vocabulary words.  We try to use the vocabulary in our conversations and activities throughout the week.  The words we focused on this week were: cowered, reassured, vibrated, dumbfounded, suppressed and dismayed.  Please ask your child to retell the story Chato's Kitchen  and explain the new vocabulary words.
